2009-2010 DISTRICT GOALS



Goal One
WITH STUDENT LEARNING AS THE FOCUS, ALL CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION WILL BE ALIGNED WITH CALIFORNIA STATE CONTENT STANDARDS AND FRAMEWORKS.  THOSE CLASSROOMS WITHOUT CALIFORNIA CONTENT STANDARDS WILL BE ALIGNED WITH NATIONAL STANDARDS, REGIONAL OCCUPATION PROGRAM STANDARDS, OR BOARD-ADOPTED STANDARDS  

  • CA State Blueprints-from STAR and CAHSEE will be reviewed by the English, math, social science, and science departments.  Foreign Language will use National Standards and PE and Health will use the California Framework.  Other departments will use ROP Standards or National Standards
  • Department members will review the standards, and their test frequency
  • Departments will adjust their curriculums to accommodate the tested items
  • Departments will submit a plan to their principals outlining how they will
    teach the tested standards
  • The WASC recommendations will be the focus of our improvement

  Goal Two  

  STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT SHALL BE IMPROVED THROUGH

STANDARDS-ALIGNED INSTRUCTION  

· We will make or exceed our AYP and API targets

· Nine week units aligned to the standards will be taught and tested

·   Remediation will be given to students who do not score at a proficiency  

 

Goal Three

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT, FOCUSED ON INCREASING STUDENT SUCCESS AND DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION, WILL BE PROVIDED TO TEACHERS

· Student success shall be the focus of staff development

· Data collections will be emphasized

· County resources will be utilized  

 

Goal Four

 

THE DISTRICT SHALL ATTRACT AND RETAIN TEACHERS, CLASSIFIED AND MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL WHO POSSESS THE TALENT AND POTENTIAL TO ASSURE SUSTAINED SUCCESS

· The District will advertise positions in the newspaper, on websites, and through

any venue which will allow the best people to apply

· The District shall maintain competitive salary scales, budget providing

·   Evaluations will be completed for all personnel to allow them to
perform at their best
 

 

Goal Five

 

THE DISTRICT SHALL OPERATE AND MAINTAIN ITS FACILITIES IN A PRUDENT, FISCALLY SOUND MANNER, WORKING TO PROVIDE THE BEST POSSIBLE ENVIRONMENT FOR STUDENT LEARNING AND EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION

  • Improvements to the facilities will be with students in mind
  • The physical plant will be improved through the Deferred Maintenance Plan

 

Goal Six

 

THE DISTRICT SHALL MANAGE ALL ITS FISCAL

RESOURCES IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN SOUND FINANCIAL STATUS AND SUPPORT THE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS

· A balanced budget will be produced

· Payroll/personnel will be closely monitored
